Wessex House is a listed home in rural Hampshire where a collection of later additions had weakened the clarity of the original building. The project replaces them with one coherent new form.
A vaulted kitchen and living space brings daylight into the centre of the plan and opens directly to the garden. Improved insulation and carefully detailed junctions raise comfort and performance while respecting the historic fabric.
Externally, the extension takes cues from the scale and material tone of the original house but translates them through a restrained contemporary language.
