A careful renovation of a rural mill paired with a clearly contemporary addition for light, warmth and modern family life.
The existing mill had a distinctive presence but no longer provided comfortable living conditions. The design strips it back to its structural logic, enabling sensitive repair and a substantial improvement in thermal performance.
More intimate accommodation remains within the repaired mill, while a new agriculturally inspired extension provides generous space for cooking, dining and relaxing. A lightly glazed link marks the transition between old and new.
The aim is not to recreate a past version of the building, but to extend its useful life with a new layer of architecture that feels honest, restrained and rooted in the rural landscape.
